Qi Chen is a Principal Investigator at the ELLIS Institute Finland and a Tenure-track Assistant Professor in the Department of Computer Science at Aalto University, and a member of ELLIS.

Before this, Qi was a postdoctoral fellow at the Data Science Institute and the Robot Vision & Learning Lab at the University of Toronto, supported by the DSI Postdoc Fellowship and advised by Prof. Florian Shkurti, and a Faculty Affiliate Researcher at the Vector Institute. Qi received a Ph.D. (dissertation with honor) from Laval University in 2024, supervised by Prof. Mario Marchand. Earlier, Qi was a senior algorithm engineer at Baidu and ByteDance, and studied at Télécom Paris, Institut Polytechnique de Paris (diplôme d’ingénieur) and Chien-Shiung Wu College, Southeast University (B.Eng.).
